We will go on a relaxed walk in one of the most beautiful natural forests of Corfu, the forest of Erimitis. We will walk on very defined and easy paths and stray into the forest where the high canopy will shield us from the hot sunny rays.

We will chose and go to one (or more) of the many beaches surrounding this forest, where we will swim and relax throughout most of the day. There are some interesting rock formations that house many dozens of fish, some species of corals and sponges, so bring your snorkelling gear!

There are three wetlands in this forest, two of which we will visit and discuss their importance and why we should protect them.

I am doing this activity on my free time this summer, once a week and it is as much a lovely relaxing experience for me as I hope it is for you. What I offer is more of a walk in the forest and not a hike. It is the experience of how we locals go to our secluded little beaches for our Sunday day off.

By the way, if you are looking to do a more active hiking activity during your stay, let me know, as many friends of mine do hikes from Nisaki to Kassiopi that pass from Erimitis.

Section 1: The Vision Image: A vibrant, urban neighborhood with energy-efficient buildings At the heart of our concept is a vision for an urban neighborhood that prioritizes sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart living. We believe that by embracing green technologies and design principles, we can create a better quality of life for residents while reducing our environmental footprint.

Section 2: Proof of Concept Image: A small-scale model unit showcasing sustainable features

Step 1: Selecting the Perfect Location To illustrate the potential of our concept, we carefully chose a small parcel of land in the target urban area that embodies the characteristics of our larger vision.

Step 2: Innovative DesignImage: Architectural renderings of the model unit We've designed a beautiful, energy-efficient model unit that showcases our sustainable features, including solar panels, energy-efficient insulation, green building materials, and state-of-the-art smart home technology.

Step 3: Securing Approvals Image: Building permits and zoning approvals Before any construction began, we diligently obtained the necessary permits and approvals from local authorities to ensure compliance with all zoning laws and building codes.

Step 4: Building the Model UnitImage: Construction in progress Our team worked tirelessly to bring our design to life, constructing the model unit to exact specifications, incorporating all the sustainable features and technologies.

Step 5: Showcasing the POCImage: Open house event with visitors exploring the model unit We opened the doors to our model unit, inviting visitors, potential investors, and partners to explore and experience our innovative concept firsthand. This allowed them to see, touch, and feel the sustainable features in action.

Step 6: Data and FeedbackGraphs and charts showcasing energy consumption and cost savings We gathered valuable data on energy consumption, cost savings, and more from the model unit. Visitor feedback and expert opinions were crucial in understanding the market's interest and perspectives on our concept.

Section 3: The Results Image: Presentation slides summarizing the results With the data and feedback collected during the POC phase, we've created a compelling presentation that demonstrates the feasibility, benefits, and market potential of our sustainable real estate concept. We are excited to share the positive outcomes with you.

We were a party of 3 – a couple and adult son. We absolutely recommend this walk with Xenia in one of the last undeveloped parts of Corfu. We walked through the woods to remote beaches where we swam. It is important to protect this beautiful area from more development and Xenia is passionate and articulate in her desire to preserve this area for future generations.

This walk with Xenia, her dad Georgios and their lovely dogs was a super important part of our trip. My partner and I learnt a lot about Corfu, the environmental challenges it is facing, and the work the community are doing to protect the Emiritis forest. The walk itself was so peaceful with a couple of beautiful swim spots (though she gave us the option for more!) and it was a real treat to be away from the tourist bubble. They were even kind enough to pick us up on the way! We would really recommend this experience to anyone as it gave us a stronger sense of place. Thank you so much! Flo & Max

We went for this hike/walk with our 3 kids (10, 8, 8 years old). The walk was about 30 minutes to the first beach, in beautiful woods. The location was magical and we swam into a pretty cave too. If you want to see a more untouched side of Corfu, do this activity.
Xenia was great to talk to and was a natural with our kids too! She shared her candid answers on all things Greece! Thank you for a wonderful day, we hope to see you soon!
